We know that God is the great creator. He speaks and things are created. But there are times that God makes choices that seemingly makes no sense to us. During those times we can scratch our head and wonder out loud, “What are you thinking God?” Sometimes our great creator, our all wise and infinite God just doesn’t make sense to our limited natural mind.  Take the account of Jesse with his sons and the selection of the next King. Jesse presents his sons who were strong in stature, handsome and well experience in the battlefield. These strapping young men are not who God would choose. Samuel then asks if there are anymore sons. Lo’ and behold, there is one more son! David is brought in from the fields. David the youngest, smallest and the most inexperience in battle stands before Samuel.
This is God’s choice! “Man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.” Our human mind has the tendency to make assumptions based on appearances. While to us some of the choices that God makes doesn’t always make sense to  us, we need to remember that He sees the big picture. He sees our future! He sees our heart! David who had a heart for sheep, creatures who must rely on their shepherd for shelter, safety and nourishment. David grows from shepherd to King!
Trusting God to guide & direct our footsteps of our life is so necessary. We know that God chooses and creates a path for each of us. We may not always understand the why? or how come? We can trust that He sees our heart. He is growing us from shepherd to King.
Enjoy the Journey!
